Even though seaweed is highly nutritious (and delicious!), eating too much can have adverse effects on your body because it contains iodine. If you eat too much seaweed this may overstimulate your Thyroid glands. According to the "Dietary Reference Intakes for Japanese (2020 Edition)" the recommended DAILY intake is 2-3 sheets for adults and 1-2 sheets for children. If you don't eat seaweed on a daily basis, than it is of course okay to eat more.

Typical Japanese products are: wasabi, seaweed, sake, ramune soft drink, furikake, mirin, yuzu, miso, instant noodles, chopsticks, high quality knives, earthen tableware, lucky cats, daruma dolls and much, much more

White tea, like green tea, contain a lot of anti-oxidants. It is the least processed type of tea and has a delicate flavour. White tea is made by picking the buds and leaves from the tea plant before they fully open. Because white tea it the least processed type, it often contains more anti-oxidant than other teas. Anti-oxidants help prevent many type of chronic health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and certain types of cancer. It has also been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect, improved dental health, brain health and slowing skin aging. White tea does contain caffeine, so keep that in mind.

Bai Mu Dan is the best, because that is the only one we sell. Ok, but seriously. White tea originates from 2 different areas of China, Yunnan and Fujian. Most white tea is currently produced in Fujian. The tea plants in Yunnan have a bit larger leaves than you will find in Fujian. The white tea from Yunnan will mostly have a deeper flavour. But more importantly is to find a good brand/producer of the tea, because even if one type is better than the other, if the production process was not up to par, the tea will not be as good.

The best Chinese webshop is the one that serves you best. Different people have different needs and different priorities. We are a small company with a real shop with real people working. Our packaging may not look as nice as some other shops, but that is because we try to re-use as much packaging material as possible (both the boxes as well as the filling) because that is better for the environment. Each Chinese webshop will also have a different selection of products or focus. So you should choose the one that fits you best.

Some tea are seen as beneficial to your health because they contain anti-oxidants (polyphenols/catechins) and l-theanine. Since white tea contains more anti-oxidants than green tea, white tea should be better for your health, but green tea is more healthy for your wallet. Maccha green tea is more concentrated than normal green tea as well.

Oolong tea has been know to have a good effect on the body. It contains anti-oxidants (not as much as white and green tea), helps burn fat, lowers cholesterol and supports digestion amongst other benefits.

You can find fresh Asian mushrooms like shiitake, enoki, eryngi and shimeiji at our shop. Shiitake being more popular can probably also be found at your local greengrocer. For the other types of Asian mushrooms you might have to go to your nearest Chinese or Japanese supermarket.

Chinese and other Asian herbs can be found at your local Asian groceries stores (and here as well of course!). If you can not find them at your local small Asian grocery store, feel free to order them from us. Bigger cities will mostly have an area where more "foreign" show are and you will often find small grocery stores there and if the city is big enough it might have a Chinatown.

Real fish sauce, authentic fish sauce (thai: nam pla, vietnamese: nuoc mam). Not real fish sauce is still made with fish, but not using only the good parts and additives can be added to speed up the process as making authentic fish sauce can take a long time due to the fermentation process. Now, you can also find vegan fish sauce, this type does not contain any fish of course. Some of the authentic fish sauces we sell are from Tiparos, Squid Brand and Megachef.
